A creative start to 2012

After a month of rest - I have finally been a bit more creative than I have in the past few months. A lot of scribbling and a new project for me! The photo below is a sneak preview with my furry companion.

I also watched for the first time Albert Hitchcock's 'The Birds' - the protagonist was rather dull and I preferred the other character Annie Hayworth played by Suzanne Pleshette. I drew this picture below in good old ballpoint pen:

I am aware that I am a lazy drawer when it comes to human forms  - so let's sit down and think about it.

What I have read:

'American  Gods' - Neil Gaiman
'How I Became a Famous Novelist' - Steve Hely

(strangely these two authors were referenced in a Simpsons episode I saw today!)

Happy New Year - Happy 6,000+ Visits!

Happy New Year Dear visitors of this mediocre blog!

What an amazing year 2011 has been and I hope that 2012 brings on many new creations and challenges. 2011 (and most other years) could not have been as amazing without the support of my friends and family - a big thank you.

2011 Highlight: Animated and projected artwork at Gotye gig.

Another big thank you goes to ... YOU!

that's right YOU!

It has come to my attention that I have hit over 6,000 visitors to this blog and I know it is not just my mother visiting this blog, for the stats show me that I have visitors from all over the globe! What a wonderful age we live in.

As part of my gratitude I am promoting a give-a-way for one lovely visitor to win this AWESOME prize:

The "Somebody I used to know" Demo CD single that was sent out to the radio stations - with my art work on it - It is a rarity as this was only given to radio stations!

Question: But Kat how can I get a chance to obtain this awesome thing?

Very good question fake reader question, all you have to do is follow these simple instructions:

1) Use this email: kaoskat@hotmail.com (no spam please!)
2) You MUST type in the subject of the email: "Somebody I Used to Know CD please" (I would just cut and paste: - ctrl c then crtl v)

The winner will be notified by email.

19-1-12: COMPETITION CLOSED - we have a winner from England!

Thank you so much for your support in 2011 - I hope to provide good art this year.

Laugh [Christmas] Giraffe

We are getting closer to Christmas. A friend of mine called me to see if I had any pictures for him to send out as a e-Christmas greeting. Something quirky. I had a few things but I put this together last night.
CHRISTMAS GIRAFFE! Reminds me of the Flaming Lips Song "Christmas at the Zoo" Merry Christmas.

Christmas Specials

Hello All,

It's less than a month until Christmas and to begin the festivities, I found a drawing I did earlier this year reminiscing on some of the 'big questions' as a young kid.

I think I was in grade 3 or 4 when this came to me:

Yes, at the tender age of 9 (I have this picture wrong it should be 1992) when this major flaw in Christmas Specials came to me.

This thought impressed my older sister ...
you could say "I'm smarter than the average kid..." [Hanna Barbera joke - get it??]

I hope I haven't offended anyone - I love Christmas Specials. I love Christmas Cartoons. There are so many amazing and just strange ideas for Christmas Specials (e.g. Pacman Christmas, a Merri Mirthworm Christmas not to mention all the spin offs of 'A Christmas Carol')

co-Mission

A friend of mine recommended me to someone looking to draw a picture for their boyfriend 12 months ago. This was a fun project and she approached me again for another picture. This time a hummingbird. This girl has lovely ideas and it is a great privilege to be able to create someone else's vision. here it is:

You look cranky.

When I'm presented with a complex problem - I like to take my time to think and contemplate solutions. However, I usually do this walking and present a 'cranky face' or 'great deal of concern' or 'ugly' face. People see me and think I'm cranky. I hope my 'cranky face' looks more like this...
