"This one's for you"

Hello! hello!

I has been a while.  My mother called me and informed me that she was showing my blog to a friend of hers and said I need to update it.

This one is for you mum.  Thanks for the motivation.

I have been motivated... and working with some more academic researchers where I have been contributing to research by drawing pictures and not doing the literature review!

Here are some concept sketches (note: this is about  some motor-based skills)

 Skate boarding.

Using a knife and fork properly (or in this case quite inappropriate!)

Hurdles.  Photoshop drawing.

I am stepping up into the digital age people. Which brings me to this experiment....

Do you know about the Voo Doo?

You doo? Well, look closely and I got carried away and drew 6 fingers on this Voo Doo priestess. Also digital illustration.  Photoshop.

And finally...

Guinea Pigs!  My dear friends comedy duo Jonestown have a new show for the comedy festival "Guinea Pigs"  It's about science.  I thought it would be fun to do another little retro picture for the fun of it.

Hope you are well occasional visitor!

P.S.  Please please please please check out Ben Abraham's Debut Album 'Sirens'.  Buy the single - "Speak"  gain a watercolour by me, but I would recommend that you buy the album because you gain 13 amazing songs from this amazing musician and inspiring friend.

Speak

Something I have not done so much this year - Speak.  I am not going start to discuss my activities here, but will Speak on behalf of my dear friend Ben Abraham, who has been a long time fan of my art and it is a great privilege that he asked me to provide art work for his first single to his debut album (to be released soon).

Please listen and support this wonderful and passionate artist.

2014 Post[ers]

Good Grief!

It's 2014.

Thank you to the few who have dropped  by my blog in 2013.  I apologise for the very little things to see.  I can only blame myself -- the quality of my work was not worth sharing but I have had a few little projects this summer period and hoping to do more collaborative work this year (hoorah).

Wanting to do something in Adelaide this Fringe Festival 2014? (February 14 - March 16)
Then please see "Pyjama Party" -- 2 great comedians one great show (and they asked me to do a poster). I was inspired by 1960's illustration.

Tash Parker and friends are also  performing in Melbourne and outer Melbourne  February.  More lovely posters -- I wanted a minimal look.

watercolour boy

So - here is a boy. I added watercolour to make it look a bit better.   I haven't cleaned up the lines or scanned the image properly.  I'm making a conscience effort to draw more and add more to this blog.

A letter to my left hemisphere:

Dear Left Hemisphere,

Can you please send me some electricity (action potentials) and increase the connective tissue white matter via the corpus callosum to make my  right hemisphere more... awesome?

In exchange I will revisit my neuroscience and make sure that I am on the right track and make more time to watch "TED" lectures.

Love your work.

Kat.

---

Over the summer (January) I have been thinking about the creative process and reflected on the  lower than adequate effort of my work in 2012 compared to what I have achieved in the previous years (see older entries of the blog).

My conclusion...

Make more time to draw etc... Here is some other sketches/projects.

Hey hey... (finally) starting a new abstract piece.

Freddie.  Did anyone watch the BBC production "The Hour"?  I was quite a fan and did a caricature of Freddie.

The show was axed.  Thanks a lot BBC.
